Change Is Inevitable, Ⅱ
The spring season will accentuate whatever upward moving processes are currently manifesting. If your body is already having Liver Congestion, essentially, it’s like putting gasoline on a fire. When your body is in a Liver/spring cycle and is already in an uproar, you essentially get double the trouble.
Liver Chi Congestion happens to be one of the more common Chinese Medicine Patterns of imbalance affecting a great percentage of people. When it festers for an extended period of time, it may begin to appear as erratic behavior or emotional issues.
Liver Chi Congestion can be likened unto a pressure cooker that is always on, never able to decompress through the steam release valve.
Even though the pressure cooker has created this problem…it cannot contain all of this potential energy. So what happens next is that the pressure cooker explodes.
Your body will do the same thing if it cannot release the congested/pressurized Chi Stagnation.

You can imagine that an explosion is preceded by an especially sensitive emotional disposition that can crack at any moment. It will often lead to a sudden outburst of emotional energy, especially in the form of:

- anger or rage
- a pounding headache or migraine
- dizziness
- ringing in the ears
- extreme neck and shoulder tension
- oppressive feeling in the chest that can also manifest as anxiety or panic
This event is known as the Chinese Medicine Pattern of Liver Yang Rising.
Unless a person finds a way to appropriately move the stagnation and release the Chi such as with an appropriately balanced Chinese Herbal Formulas, exercise, emotional therapy, journaling…this will be the on-going process that can damage their body and spirit.
An individual with unresolved Liver Chi Congestion that continues to build will experience the back-and-forth cycle of pressure building and then exploding over and over.
