Loose, Bloody Stools, Ⅰ

When people come to us seeking answers to the complex questions of healing, we do our best to try and both clarify the process of healing, as well as provide clear and cogent answers.
Most of the time a person will approach us wanting to know,
“Can you help me with my health problem?”
This could be a myriad of issues ranging from emotional imbalances, digestive upsets to a variety of skin problems and more.
At this point in the relationship when the solution seeker meets with the solution provider, it is essential to dive deeper, go under the surface to gain a better understanding of the complexity of the individual. A simple answer of just “yes, we can”, especially with very severe and complex health problems is never really simple.
Using a tree will be a perfect visual in helping to explain just “why” healing is never, ever simple. The problem that an individual is experiencing (in this example, “loose, bloody stools”) is represented as the branch problem. Branch problems are superficial and fruitful, so to speak. In other words, branch problems are what an individual experiences. Yet… a key principle in Chinese Medicine is the acknowledgement that what we experience is rarely if ever the cause of the problem. It is rather only a manifestation of the root problem. It could also be said that the branch manifestation is just an aspect of a much deeper issue. Branch problems can be many in number.
By Chinese Medicine’s perspective, the root is a perfect explanation of the cause of a particular problem. This is because roots are hidden and below the surface. By most people’s understanding of their own body, they tend to be limited by only what they experience. Usually the “louder” experience is where the most attention will be paid. Many common, yet very subtle experiences are usually dismissed as “normal”, “unimportant”, or “irrelevant”.

Yet, it is all experiences, whether subtle or loud, that help the Chinese Herbalist to decipher the picture of the root cause-the Chinese Medicine Patter of Imbalance-that will help to pinpoint the state of health of the five key, vital Chinese Medicine Organ Systems.

Often times, the common and legitimate question of, “Can you help me with ‘xyz’?”, which seems simple enough from the perspective of the asker, is in fact the opposite to the Chinese Herbalist. It provokes a cascading effect into one of the deepest subjects one can ask of another. It is a question that explores the complex nature of who we are as human beings and one of the greatest mysteries and treasures of life, that of complete, vibrant health.
We at Heaven & Earth Chinese Medicine Healing Center will always continue to dive into this incredibly deep and complex subject because it is truly our passion. We are always at your service.
